It’s been a long time coming, but we’re bringing back our web design competition, Website Nightmares! We last created this competition in 2008 and back then, HTML5, Mobile and Responsive Design were not part of the equation and Flash was. Our site was great in 2009, but now it’s a nightmare.
To that end, we’re bringing back our fall design competition. We want a new look to the LAdobe site and make it the best site amongst all the Adobe Groups around the world. We want something that really stands out and looks great on both desktop computers as well as devices.
We want you to come up with a mockup design of what you think the new LAdobe site will look like. There is no entry fee and you don’t have to do any coding. We just want you to use Photoshop, Fireworks or any design tool of your choosing and email your entries to us by December 1st. You can send as many examples as you want and they don’t have to be finished comps. If you do send more than one, only the strongest entry will be chosen for the finals if you are selected to be a finalist.
On our final meeting of the year on December 6th and ING Direct Cafe in West Los Angeles, we will have the final three. Each finalist will come up on stage and present their entry to all our attendees and our esteemed panel of judges. Each finalist will receive an eBook from O’Reilly Publishing and our winner will receive a VectorScribe Studio plug-in for Illustrator from Astute Graphics, a series of books from O’Reilly, $100 in stock imagery from Pond5 and the Web Design Bundle of Adobe Creative Suite 6. An over $2,500 prize package for the winner of Website Nightmares!
Best of all, your design will become the new design of LAdobe in the first quarter of 2013 and will be credited on all pages of the website. You don’t have to code it. We will do that for you. You just have to come up with the best web design and you may be the winner of Website Nightmares!
To enter, just download the LAdobe logo from here and use that as the base of your design. Then email your entries to us and include at least one example of the desktop site and one for mobile. They should both be 72DPI JPEG or PNG files or they will be disqualified from the competition. Again, you can enter as many designs as you want, but only one will make the final three.
Good luck to all who plan to enter and we look forward to seeing all the creative entries this month!
